Partnership
Movie research • Life partner visa / marriage for South Africa
Project Context (Movie Plot)
This is fiction / movie plot research only.
Plot: A guy and a girl who are business partners research illegal means to get her a visa / ability to live in South Africa (for story realism and tension). Ultimately they choose the legal marriage route at the end. The story requires realistic details on both the \"illegal research\" path the characters explore and the genuine legal marriage / life partner visa path they ultimately take. Marriage is viewed as more realistic; a life partner visa would make the movie better (beautiful twist ending).
Faking Documentation (Movie Research Only)
For story realism only. The characters in the movie explore these methods as part of their research into “illegal means.” They ultimately reject this path and choose legal marriage.
Shared Bank Account – Backdating Transactions (Movie Research)
In the story the characters research how someone might realistically fabricate a history of joint finances. Real-world methods that have appeared in actual cases include:
- PDF editing: Download official PDF statements from the bank’s online portal, then use Acrobat, Preview, or Photoshop to change dates, add the second name to the account holder line, and insert small recurring transfers. Care is taken to match fonts, line spacing, and the bank’s exact statement layout so the document passes a quick visual check.
- Statement generator tools: Use online “bank statement maker” services (commonly marketed to landlords or for visa purposes) that let the user choose the bank logo, statement period, and transaction list. These produce a clean PDF that looks like a real statement but contains fabricated history.
- Backdating via bank app loopholes: Some banking apps allow users to request statements for custom date ranges going back 12–24 months. The characters explore whether they can open the joint account now and then request historical statements that the bank system will generate with the current date range, giving the appearance of a longer relationship.
- Insider or social engineering route: In the story they research whether a bank employee (or someone who knows one) could be persuaded to print or email older statements with altered dates, or whether a branch can be convinced to re-issue a statement with a different opening date.
- Layered paper trail: They also look at creating a small number of real small-value transfers between two existing accounts first, then printing those genuine transactions alongside the fabricated ones so at least some activity can be verified if Home Affairs does a quick check.
All of the above is presented strictly as the kind of research the characters do for the movie’s tension before they ultimately choose the honest legal marriage path.
